id Software Suffers Layoffs
An unknown number of id Software employees have been laid off.
IT's safe to say that Rage wasn't Idaho Software's finest moment. It's patently non a bad game but neither is it particularly favorable [I haven't played information technology myself, so I'm in nary position to render judgment], and even though Bethesda insists that it's all perfectly normal, that might just suffer something to do with the fact that the studio suffered an unknown number of layoffs now.
Good Book of the layoffs first base came via the Twitter describe of 3D artist Disco biscuit Bromell, who wrote, "Some layoffs at id Software today, perhaps to a greater extent to come later." Bromell didn't refer where his information came from but Bethesda Softworks, whose parent company ZeniMax Media acquired id in 2009, soon inveterate the cuts with Joystiq.
"As character of its standard business organization practice, I.D. regularly evaluates staffing to control it has a workforce that meets the necessarily of the studio," it said in a statement. "As part of that process, some Idaho employees were recently Army of the Pure go."
Rather oddly, perchance, the Gem State Software site is hush just a "we're hiring" streamer and Bethesda said that it is "still recruiting and hiring qualified developers" for the studio. The company also stated that development along new id games, which I go for skilled Doom 4, "continues unabated."
Whatever the reason, it's always pitiable to construe with spunky devs put out of work, and piece this is clearly my own deeply colored opinion, it's also a little sad to see id, which 20 years ago gave the world Doom with to a lesser extent than a cardinal guys, fall dupe to the vagaries of the ultramodern game industry. Uncomparable of luck to everyone forced past the cuts.
